Special Days - November 16-22

Published by kamirusma under Uncategorized Edit This

November is barreling right along and soon it will be Thanksgiving then (eek!) Christmas!

This week has some interesting days to consider.

November is Native American Heritage Month - something important and interesting to consider. This is sort of special to me because one of my grandmother’s ancestor’s walked the Trail of Tears, became sick and fell off the Trail in Southern Illinois. He settled here, lived his life, got married, had children and several generations later - here I am. So I appreciate knowing about - and appreciating - my own Native American heritage.

This week - the third week in November is Game and Puzzle Week. So pick up a sudoku, a word search or crossword and celebrate! I enjoy working online sudokus on www.websudoku.com - you should check it out! I sudoku to help keep my mind sharp because it is decidedly fuzzy most of the time!

Today, November 17 is Homemade Bread Day. In honor of that, I’m going to post two of my favorite bread recipes tomorrow - so be watching (one of them is a new recipe I just tried - a delicious Pumpking Cream Cheese Bread, yum!).

November 19 is Have a Bad Day Day - so if you wake up cranky you can tell everyone you’re just celebrating this unusual day!

November 19 marks the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address in 1863. If you’ve never read it, take the time - it’s worth reading and remembering, especially when you take into account the history that surrounded it.

November 20 is the Great American Smokeout. If you or someone you love has been wanting to quit smoking, why not plan to start stopping on November 20? You’ll be glad you did!

November 20 is also Family Reading Night. So turn off the TV and read! I’ll be writing more about that on Thursday so check back (or better yet, take advantage of my new subscription widget on the right sidebar)!

November 22 is the anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, TX in 1963.

So, November has plenty of interesting things going on. But then again, every day you are alive is a special day!
